There’s plenty of grim news in the newspaper and newscast today.

More bad people have done more bad things.

But when I step outside I can’t help shouting, “Hallelujah!”

Because you pour the rain to quench our thirst.

You grow lush grass for hungry cattle.

You deliver lunch for the birds.

You spread fresh-fallen snow like a white wool blanket.

You decorate with frost like Rembrandt decorated with paint.

Because my eyes are not on what humanity is doing wrong but on what you, Lord, are doing right, I shout “Hallelujah!”
