DAY THIRTEEN: Monday
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Phil. 2:12-13 ESV)
My beloved,
I want you to be as spiritually healthy as possible. As spiritually mature as possible. As spiritually whole as possible. I’m not just interested in getting you up to heaven. I’m interested in getting heaven down to earth–through you. I’ve made you to be just like the Messiah. That’s really what it means to be “saved.”
So, today, let’s work together on that project. Let’s partner. Let’s co-labor.
Today, I’ll work in you. And I’ll give you both the motivation to be like Jesus and the ability to be like Jesus. I’ll grant you the “why” and the “how.” I’ll increase your passion and your power for growing up.
And today, you work with me. Be serious about this. Treat this like nothing else matters more. Work harder on losing that pride than you do on losing those pounds. Labor more on forgiving than you do on fishing. Dedicate as much energy to raising your kindness as you do to raising your kids.
This isn’t about earning. It’s not about legalism. I’ve already forgiven you. Cleansed you. Connected you to our Father. There’s nothing more you can do on that part of the ledger.
This is about effort. This is finishing the journey you started when you said “I do” to Jesus. This is about taking one more step. Turning one more page.
So let’s go! There’s growth to gain. A new you to experience. And I’m committed to helping you make it all happen.
Blessings be upon you,
Spirit
