Day of Unbroken Prayer
Prayer Prompts
Thank you for praying. There are 5 prayer prompts listed here. You may use all or none of them. Pray as you are led to pray. Use this time to draw close to God and to intercede for others. These prompts are meant as a tool to assist you.
(1) Beginning Prayers
You may find it helpful to begin with one of these prayers:
The Lord’s Prayer – Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom
and the power
and the glory, forever.
Psalm 63
1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
Julian of Norwich – In you, Father Almighty, we have our preservation and our bliss.
In you, Christ, we have our restoring and our saving.
In you, our Lord the Holy Spirit, is marvellous and plenteous grace. You are our clothing; for love you wrap us and embrace us.
Teach us to believe that by your grace all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Francis of Assisi – Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.
St. Patrick – Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ where I lie, Christ where I sit, Christ where I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every one who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
Salvation is of the Lord.
Salvation is of the Christ.
May your salvation, Lord, be ever with us.
(2) Personal Prayers
Take some time to pray about personal matters. Here are three structures you could use to guide this time of personal prayer:
You might use the ACTS method:
Adoration – spend time in adoration, praising God for his character and his attributes.
Confession – acknowledge before God your challenges, struggles and failures.
Thanksgiving – give thanks to God for specific ways in which he’s been active in your life lately.
Supplication – pray for specific needs in your life and in the lives of others.
You might use Anne Lamott’s three-fold prayer:
HELP – ask God to help you, and to help others as well.
THANKS – give thanks and praise for his assistance and activity in your life.
WOW! – give praise and glory for who God is and how he’s been at work in your life and in the lives of others.
You could use Max Lucado’s Simple Prayer:
Father….
You are good…
I need help…
Heal me…
Forgive me…
They need help…
Thank you…
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(5) Highland Outreach Ministries
Pray for God to use these ministries to bless the lives of many.
THE NEEDY
As recipients of God’s love, we are blessed to share that love with those around us. We do this through various local ministries that reach out to schools, hospitals, and individuals in need. Highland also shares with other Christian communities in the service of several powerful local organizations, such as HopeWorks and Agape. At Highland you not only experience a community of love, but join with that community in loving others.
Through our weekly ministry contribution and/or hallway contributions, Highland supports several ministries to the needy:
