In his prayer “Our Need for Thee” St. Francis writes this: “What sadness in this world could endure if it looked in your eyes?”
What sadness do you feel today?
-Sadness over lost love?
-Sadness that you cannot be with family this Christmas?
-Sadness that another year is coming to a close and your goals are still unmet?
-Sadness about spiritual superficiality?
-Sadness about sin?
-Sadness about some health issue?
Take a moment and imagine looking into Jesus’ eyes.
What do you see when you look in his eyes?
-Joy?
-Passion?
-Mercy?
-Wisdom?
-Care?
-Compassion?
Look into his eyes until your sadness is transformed by what you see.
