Prayer from Psalm 87: City of God

This entry is part 86 of 158 in the series Prayers from the Psalms

You, O Lord, are every place–over all, through all, and in all.

But there was a time when you favored one place–the City of God.

How your Self saturated that City!

I’ve lingered in similar locations.

Places where your presence was pronounced.

A stirring worship service in a Nashville sanctuary.

A quiet moment on the Malibu shore.

A brilliant sunrise on a Las Cruces mesa.

Those glimpses of your glory make me hunger for a new day and a new city where we’ll finally meet face to face.
